| Who is Jodine? |
|
Jodine Dorcé is at her best when smiling, translating her appreciation for all things soulful directly to you. A first generation entrepreneur of Haitian ancestry, Jodine labors with passion to change the lives of others by drawing out their finest. Not limited to natural hair and fragrant incense, her mission is a celebration of you as you are, at your best, and emotionally vivid. While tuned in to classic albums like Marvin Gaye’s I Want You, sipping Café Buestelo, and envisioning her edu-tainment movement reaching the children of Haiti, she's garnered a reputation as a prominent tastemaker and savvy businesswoman. To satisfy the demands of her creative ventures, Ms. Dorcé is employed as a Marketing Associate, specializing in retail/trade, music licensing and event planning for Digital Blue, an electronics manufacturing company. In a work related venture, Jodine relocated to Atlanta from Miami in 2000. Since that year Jodine worked to secure her international reputation for excellence in soul among industry and independent professionals. Initially unsatisfied with Atlanta’s ensemble of cultural events and outlets, she began sharing emails between friends recommending restaurants, events, and music. This served as the conceptual mechanism for Jodine’s Corner, a soulful solution to public relations, management, promotions, and marketing. In 2001, she worked with a local creator to co-found and produce an all female talent showcase called the Soul Sista’s Juke Joint. Also interested in the preservation of Atlanta’s poetic discourse, she co-produced the Southern Poetry Conference with Goode Stuff Entertainment two years later. In 2006, she co-produced the Soul Music Summit in Atlanta, GA. Dorcé was also nominated for a 2004 Hip-Hop Appreciation Award. Just recently, she served on the National Black Arts Festival Ambassador Board and served as the Soul Suite Consultant. All wasn’t a crystal stair. Still determined, challenging opportunities prepare her for a phenomenal future! Today, her weekly responsibilities include Jodine's Corner Radio on WBCX's Eclectic 89.1 FM and http://www.jodinescorner.podomatic.com where she serves as on-air personality, producer, program director, promoter, and engineer. Jodine is currently producing the I Got Soul Music Conference in Dallas, TX with the Neo Soul Café, co-producing the annual Soultracks Awards in Detroit, MI., is the marketing partner for the International Black Docufest in Atlanta, and sponsors a number of festivals, concerts and lifestyle events that cater to the Arts. Jodine carries experience with both in front of and behind the camera operations for programs including What's Happenin' TV, Harmony in Life, Herside.net, the ASCAP Liquid Soul Café, SoulVille Festival, and The Soul Lounge. She's also passionate about the education element of entertainment by providing expertise sitting on panels, roundtables and moderating conferences. She is also the woman behind some of the cities most memorable music performances featuring recording artists like Joi, Ledisi, Fertile Ground, Donnie, SEEK, Eric Roberson, Raheem Devaughn and Dwayne Wiggins. One of her brightest joys is the opportunity to interview some of her favorite artists including Maurice White, Lonnie Liston Smith, Malcolm Jamal Warner, Lalah Hathaway, Julie Dexter, Dwele, just to name a few.
